Yet Even More About Sizing Armovers

Lets say you have a ton of branch lines with retrofitted armovers that go off in all directions. There is no easy way to size these, right?

Try this:

Size all your branch lines by selecting the Lines option in the Size Pipe toolbar. Also select Use Directional Filter and select either Horizontal or Vertical, depending on your branch line direction.

Now that all your branch lines are sized, size the armovers as follows – In Size Pipe choose your Diameter, select the Lines option, deselect Use Directional Filter and then select Do Not Resize Pipes Already Sized. This will ensure that only the armovers will get sizes. Now pick all the branch lines and armovers.

Problem solved?

    Actually no it doesn’t help. We already have sizes that came in from the calculations. But we don’t want to see those sizes. We still need them for the listing and calculations. So we resize every armover with a new pipe size at a scale of .05. I have to agree with your customer from your March post that putting armover tags on their own layer would be helpful. Actually I would say they should be a different block and on their own layer and heck why not seperate out branchline tags with a different block on its own layer as well just for consistency.

    Steve – then you have two options. Use the Scale Pipe Sizes Down command on the Piping toolbar, or use Hide Attributes (HAT) from the Hydratools->Modify-Attributes command
